Many people today in search of a more natural healing methods, have heard of an ancient energy healing technique called Reiki.
Reiki is described a technique in which a physician provides hands on a client's body, while "running energy" into the field the client's energy. Some of the most famous and remarkable benefits of this work of healing include: stress reduction, allowing the body to heal yourself better at all levels, relaxation, relief of chronic pain, and help unlock and release old stuck emotions.
Traditionally, This technique is believed to have originated in Japan about 100 years ago, although there is some debate about their specific religious and spiritual origins. Some sources say that Dr. Usui, the founder of Traditional Reiki and a Japanese university professor, was a Buddhist, while others say he was Christian, and went in search of method which Jesus performed his miracles.
Some of the challenges that Christians have had in achieving this method of healing, either as client or as a doctor, include the fact that there are no clear and unambiguous guidelines as to how Reiki should be practiced, and therefore is open to individual interpretation of each individual. This may be more threatening, as some Reiki practitioners talk with guides, angels and spirits, and work with the healing energy in a way that seems violating the beliefs and practices of modern Bible-believing Christian.
However, I believe that the healing work is a clear mandate from Jesus himself. In John 14:12, we hear Jesus saying: "The person who trusts me, not only do what I'm doing, but things even more, because I, in my way to the Father, I am you do the same work I was doing. "
It is clear that Jesus is saying that we should follow in the ministry healing – it must also do what you're doing to heal others through the power of God.
In Matthew chapter 8, we read the story of Jesus healing of the leper, giving a healing touch. The Scripture says: "Jesus came and touched him, saying, 'I want to heal. Be clean."
Properly understood, using techniques such as Reiki energy can fit very well in helping to meet Jesus in the longer term mission land. I personally I prefer to totally miss the word "Reiki" because it has so many "oriental" connotations, and healing simply by calling for the imposition hands of "Christian healing energy."
We can use the healing power of the Holy Spirit, or Jesus and God the Father, we put our hands on ourselves and others, and we can be in awe in the miraculous power of Christian healing.
Can there be such thing as "Reiki for Christians? "I think so. And it is my hope that many Christians will be able to let go easily Reiki Eastern baggage, and be able to accept the spiritual healing power of this wonderful healing technique that God gives.
