The treatment for migraines and other symptoms of menopause is not the same everywhere in the world. Different cultures have different practices of medicine and beliefs. However, it is interesting to note that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture, is becoming a popular therapeutic method in Western culture to treat a variety of psychological and physical conditions including menopause.
TCM views menopause as the time in a woman's life when his body closes its natural monthly reproductive cycle because they can no longer reproduce. However, it is believed that his body stops menses to conserve her qi (vital energy body), so that ages can keep all of their resources.
Unlike women in western culture, most women in the East, Menopause is rather quiet. It is believed that the reasons for this is because Western women have a faster pace, the lifestyle full of stress and tend to consume poor diets. Thus, as a result, women in Western culture tend to experience symptoms of menopause much more intense than their sisters in the East.
Although the real causes of menopausal symptoms, the fact is that traditional medicine does not regard China as a menopause syndrome. The idea is that women suffering through menopause have a variety of problems such as limited qi qi of the liver and kidney yin deficiency. In other words, your qi is unbalanced and is causing havoc on your mind and body.
Therefore, the goal of TCM treatment is unique to each woman based on your specific symptoms. This means that different techniques, apart from acupuncture may also suggest, as Chinese herbs, lifestyle or dietary changes and exercise – all of which are used to help to restore balance to the body.
How does acupuncture work? Acupuncture is based on the belief that there are about 2,000 acupuncture points (points trigger) throughout the body. These trigger points are linked together through a group of 20 different meridians (channels). The meridians are responsible for the realization of qi between the surface of the body and interior of the organs. Qi has a specific effect on each item that passes through. When the qi flows properly through the meridians and all points, maintaining a healthy balance in mind and body.
During an acupuncture treatment for menopause, an acupuncture therapist help a woman bring balance to your body, focusing on the treatment of trigger points related to their symptoms. Only a few trigger points are used, and may vary depending on the symptoms. Therefore, all women, menopause is treated individually based on your problem.
Acupuncture is administered through the use of tiny needles, inserted into solid trigger points of destination. The purpose of the needles is to help stimulate the meridians to encourage the production qi. This could mean that the needles can be inserted into the shoulders, arms, legs and even feet. If inserted correctly, the needles should not cause pain or bleeding, however, their may be slight discomfort or a tingling or numbing sensation that quickly fades. Treatment is often very relaxing, and Sessions typically last 30 minutes.
Does menopause acupuncture benefit? Yes, research has found that most women who participated in the different acupuncture studies found the relief of menopausal symptoms, including:
or hot flashes
or insomnia
Stress or
Anxiety or
or Vaginal dryness
If you are interested in using acupuncture for alternative or complementary treatment to relieve symptoms of menopause, it is imperative that you visit a qualified and experienced acupuncture therapist, in order to realistically determine if this method is an effective treatment option for you.
Remember, no two women are treated the same, and Acupuncture Therapy is often long-term treatment course.
