So maybe you've experienced a dull ache in your forearms while typing on a computer, or, possibly, their hands have a slight feeling, ardor only increases as more use them. If you have a job or an activity that involves a lot of repetitive motions, it is likely that you are experiencing the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, or CTSCTS is caused by swelling pressure on the tendons that control the muscles of the hand. Continued use only increases the inflammation, and this in turn causes more pain, and the cycle continues. So what natural methods of treatment of carpal tunnel are available?
1. Acupuncture and acupressure – Based on the degree of injury and inflammation, an acupuncturist can determine the time acupuncture or acupressure is the case, and then use it to treat or symptoms of CTS.
Does it work? In a word – YES! Although the exact reason why acupuncture works or acupressure is not known, numerous studies have shown that it can be more effective than most other forms of treatment, including surgery. I myself have found that acupuncture very effective in the treatment of tendinitis and tendon pain. While I personally have not had surgery for tendinitis, I have had steroid injections … and I find acupuncture as effective and much safer.
2. Yoga – Exercise in general is good to help reduce CTS symptoms, but yoga, in particular, focuses on stretching the muscles and tendons in a way that reduces swelling and pressure within the body. A study was conducted with 42 people with CTS found that by 11 specific yoga postures, twice a week for 8 weeks is as effective as the wrist splint and taking ibuprofen (Advil, which is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory.) I used yoga and found it very effective in treating carpal tunnel syndrome. In fact, this is my personal favorite self-administered treatment, I have found the most effective!
3. Chiropractic – Although I personally never used a chiropractor to treat my CTS million have, and many studies generally conclude that the work of chiropractic is at least somewhat effective in reducing pain. A study focused on 91 patients of carpal tunnel, chiropractic work and found to be as effective as conventional medical treatments for carpal tunnel.
In general, these three natural methods to treat carpal tunnel syndrome are more efficient than conventional medical treatments such as splints, anti-inflammatory steroids or even surgery. Studies have shown that chiropractic work and acupuncture acupressure can be very effective in the treatment of issues chronic pain such as tendonitis, muscle, and several previous issues, and CTS
