PTSD or PTSD, is a condition which alters the "fight or flight" in a person. Is caused by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Symptoms may persist even when the danger does not exist. Anyone can be affected by PTSD and can have a devastating effect on his life. It can happen to anyone at any age. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can be very effective in treating symptoms as well as being an integral part of a support network for patients.
There are two ways a person can experience PTSD:
1) A witness or experience a situation where death or serious bodily injury was threatened by the patient or others
2) The patient experiences intense fear, helplessness or horror
PTSD symptoms can include, but are not limited to:
 • The flashbacks, hallucinations, illusions, and feel as if the event recurs
 • Angry outbursts
 • obsessive thoughts
 • stressful dreams, recurrent
 • Marked distress caused by physical or mental signs that resemble the trauma
 • Insomnia
 • Disability to concentrate
 • A hyper-alert state
 • Shocking easily
 • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Symptoms of PTSD can begin immediately after a trauma, or manifest later, possibly even years.
The conventional treatment for PTSD using the therapy and counseling, and sometimes drugs to help with anxiety, depression, insomnia and lack of concentration.
Treatment with Chinese medicine and acupuncture involves the use of points to help stimulate the brain where memories are stored emotional as well as help the patient in the trauma ongoing process comfortably and safely. The acupuncture treatment should be soft enough to begin to stimulate the brain, emotions, and begin working with trauma, without actually trigger symptoms of panic or flashbacks. This can be achieved with the ear (auricular) acupuncture and various parts of the body to help balance the Qi and calm the mind.
A gentle massage can also be useful before, during or after treatment acupuncture. You can help the patient maintain a sense of "land" in your body without causing any symptoms.
In addition, the formulas Herbal can be used to help patients maintain a sense of calm and continue processing the trauma of a safe and effective.
