Acupuncture is believed to have been practiced for about 4000-5000 years. The first documented record of using more than 3000 years old. In China still is considered normal, while in the West is still considered alternative medicine. Here I will give an overview of what acupuncture can do for you if you have a sleep disorder.

The main attractions of acupuncture compared with sleeping pills or other drugs is that it has no effect side, has a high success rate and is considered a holistic treatment. That said, any treatment for insomnia is to approach the condition in a way prudent. Insomnia is a disease in itself – with a few exceptions – but rather a manifestation of an underlying problem. A sleep disorder can have many causes, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief or emotional disturbance. So take time to cure insomnia, there is no such thing as a "quick fix"!

Both patient and practitioner takes patience … Acupuncture seems to work best with short-term insomnia, defined as less than about 6 weeks, people not so well with the suffering of chronic insomnia. This is probably caused by the fact that long-term insomnia is associated with clinical depression or lifestyle problems. If you suffer from this also will find that kind of takes the life of their own, and you may need professional help to deal with emotional problems buried in his mind. Also appears to be a common observation that if you've been sleeping pills for a long time acupuncture does not work so well. Well, according to the ancient theory of energy – "Chi" – flows through the lines of your body, called meridians. The needles are inserted well used at certain points along these meridians to channel or divert or block the flow of energy.

Western medicine has found no support for these "power lines", but instead tried to explain the workings of acupuncture to talk about "gate-control" and effects "neuro-hormonal." In other words, nobody knows! However, it seems to work for many people. If you suffer from a sleep disorder and is looking for a natural cure for insomnia, it's worth giving it a try. After all, there are no side effects and the introduction of any drug in your body. And if you do not like the idea that the needles are said – are very thin, they are sterile and only you can feel!
