Acupuncture is often used in combination with moxibustion in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The two techniques are so closely related that called in Chinese with short, Zhenjiu – acupuncture (zhen, a needle), plus moxibustion (jiu, to burn). A new English word has two meanings, moxa acupuncture has been coined recently.

However, the intrinsic differences between Acupuncture And Moxibustion are necessary to take account of their origin separately.

Moxibustion is a type of traditional Chinese medicine that treats the disease and the disorder by stimulating acupuncture points and meridians with heat. The invention of moxibustion is directly related to the discovery and use of fire by prehistoric man. All animals, humans included, instinctively prefer the heat and do not like cold. Even plants have properties or thermotoaxic phototaxic. The application of heat for healing is universal, and has served on numerous engravings medical traditions, including those of ancient Greece and Rome. At some point in prehistory, our ancestors discovered that the fire could be used not only for cooking and heating their bodies but also to alleviate or even cure their ills.

But body piercing with needles is not an instinctive reaction when one is sick or in pain. Most people prefer not to be pierced with needles, and associated with pain and injury. Not surprise "to give someone the needle", it means upsetting or irritating in English. Many plants and animals have taken advantage of this natural response, and the thorns or spikes evolved as weapons to ward off attacks. Needling cause some degree of physical trauma, no matter how well the needle or skilled practitioner. A modern report shows that when a needle of 0.2 mm in diameter, the size of modern Acupuncture Needles are used to prick a rabbit muscle fibers four to twenty and ten to twenty nerve fibers are damaged1. The degree of trauma was much higher in ancient times, when the needles were much more massive. Even in the recent past, acupuncture needles thick, up to 2 mm in diameter, still occasionally used.

What seems even more logical is that acupuncture is applied often distal, rather than locally. It is clear that the direct application of heat may relieve local discomfort. It is also clear why it may be necessary to cause trauma due to an injured area in certain situations, such as by requiring a broken bone or surgery should be adjusted. But it is not obvious why acupuncture is often called the needle points very distant from the location of the problem. One of the principles of acupuncture instructs the smaller needle to cure the top. For example, a common acupuncture treatment require needles-Hegu LI4, located in the hand, to relieve toothache. Apparently, the secular good hand has nothing to do with sick head – why Why be traumatized?

Although acupuncture can sometimes be painful, it causes no serious or lasting damage when done correctly. Many people are willing to endure the pain of minor puncture in order to alleviate a major problem. Unfortunately, acupuncture may seem scary to some, especially in the West, where it is often misunderstood and misrepresented. For example, the entry of acupuncture in the respected as a source like the Encyclopedia Americana contains an image of the head A man poked with needles in seventy years. However, properly trained and experienced acupuncturist's needle ever so exalted and excessive.

Most striking, among all holistic healing systems invented in the ancient world, acupuncture is only unique to China. There is no cure for systems or the like, even in the early medical traditions of other cultures. Acupuncturists today still adhere to the same doctrines and manipulating needles in the same way as their counterparts in the days of the Nei Jing or Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic, the first known treatise about acupuncture (about 104 to 34 BC). Despite the introduction of methods painless and noninvasive stimulation such as acupuncture or point of use electricity or shortwave, acupuncture has remained the primary method of treatment in acupuncture.
