Stress is a major cause of illness in modern society. With the large number of hours you spent in the office, work and family-related terms, and the general thrust of productivity on health is not surprising that stress-related diseases is so prominent. So how do we handle this tension?
Stress and the reason may affect someone very personal matter. Every patient I see for the stress has different triggers, experience and stories that give rise to different manifestations of stress in its interior. That's why many people turn to acupuncture and Chinese medicine – which addresses the individual in all elements of their practice. Thus acupuncture provides a personalized approach to the patient. It is unusual for a doctor to administer the same treatment for two patients presented with the same problem.
So how does it work? What is the treatment? And where can you find a doctor?
Acupuncture is a modality dynamics within the Chinese medical tradition. Based on China's ancient cultural approaches a doctor of acupuncture will approach the body in a manner very different from orthodox medicine. Acupuncture is about the body as an integrated whole that is not just connected, but also integrates with the mind of bodies. In Chinese medicine, internal organs (zangfu) each have their own mental and emotional counterparts, if disrupted, can cause as much psychological damage because physically.
Patients can suffer from stress-related diseases may have signs and symptoms such as headache, neck pain and shoulder fatigue, digestive problems, chest pains and shortness of breath, visual disturbances, menstrual problems (pain, irregular etc.), infertility, impaired sexual and skin disorders (such as eczema or psoriasis). Sometimes these conditions may occur alone or in combination, and of course there are variations in the degree of gravity too.
What a patient can expect in the real acupuncture treatment depends on acupuncture (experience, qualifications, etc.) and disorders of patients present with. In the style of acupuncture practiced by David White (known as classical acupuncture Neijing) the approach is to ensure that all elements of the interior landscape and outside of the body are taken into account. What this implies is a minimalist approach (soft, but the methods of needling very precise), which in turn gives us very fast and lasting results. In general, the diagnostic procedure includes in-depth analysis of the pulse, channel palpation diagnosis, muscles and abdomen, interrogation and other methods of evaluation.
