Asthma affects approximately 20 million Americans each year. conventional treatment options are limited to inhaled steroids and bronchodilators. Although these drugs are effective in relieving asthma symptoms, side effects of a long-term continuous treatment can be serious. There are numerous natural to consider strategies chronic asthma can offer effective treatment without side effects.

The following is a list of nutritional supplements and herbal formulas to consider for asthma:

Supplements

Quercetin:

Chinese Herbs

Ginseng and gecko: A Chinese herbal formula (ren shen ge jie san) which clears heat and phlegm from the lungs and strengthens the lungs and spleen Qi

Ding Chuan Tang: The most widely used herbal formula for asthma, Ding Chuan Tang can be applied to all types of asthma. In particular, if the asthma is aggravated by the onset of a cold, this formula works well.

Acupuncture

Practiced for over 2,500 years in various cultures throughout Asia, acupuncture has enjoyed a long history of internal treatment of medical conditions. Acupuncture can be very effective in the treatment of asthma. Acupuncture helps reduce inflammation and balance of the main bodies contributing to one of the symptoms. In Chinese medicine, asthma can be caused by a variety of factors such as stress, diet, allergies, infection candida and constitutional weakness. All these factors are related to different internal organs that are causing the lungs to narrow. Acupuncture involves the Combining theory with the patient's symptoms pulse diagnosis and tongue to have a clear idea of the inner workings of the body. Acupuncture points are used meridians in any energy balance or functional disharmonies. adjuvant therapies are also useful for asthma, such as cupping and gua sha.

Diet

The main strategy for asthma sufferers is to avoid foods that cause inflammation in the body. On top of this list is all kind of refined sugars and carbohydrates. Any food that turns to sugar quickly in the body will cause inflammation. Many patients with asthma report a significant improvement in their symptoms just by taking this step.

In Chinese medicine, the lungs share a close relationship with the large intestine. Intestinal toxicity can cause a lot of internal problems such as asthma and allergies. If there is a history of constipation, then a cleansing approach is useful to detoxify the colon, which indirectly benefit the lungs. A high fiber diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables is the key. Flax seed, prune, pear, banana mature, and herbs such as rhubarb root are helpful colon cleansers.

Deep breathing

Every time that asthma is in remission, recommend undertaking deep breathing exercises as much as possible. Ujayi breathing in yoga practice is very useful for building lung capacity and force. It's a long sigh, exaggerated that coordinates with each asana (yoga posture). Many of the asanas to open in the chest are healing of the lungs as well. Pranayama exercises such as breathing for a minute and alternative nasal breathing are beneficial, especially done daily. The breath is inhaled one minute as slowly as possible for as long as possible, holding for as long as possible, and then exhale for as long as possible. Try to build up to a minute to do this. nasal breathing alternative is to connect one nostril and then inhale deeply through the other side, the distribution, then exhale slowly and fully, inhaling deeply, and then switch sides. This can be repeated several times.
