Many teachers who have taught for years are starting to regret that, with the pressure to become students who pass the tests with good results, subjects that are not subject to evidence obtained by the way, and some of the most beloved in the school tend to be neglected. Excursions are often perceived as too much of a commitment of time and too expensive. When I did my student teaching, my class went on 3 trips in 15 weeks. My first year of teaching, the old schedule of about 10, was reduced to one, and even then could not afford to take the bus so parents had to coordinate drivers.

Excursions are problematic. If you do not have a school that supports the details, like a teacher who simply do not have the time to coordinate the trip itself. And as I said before, time class is so focused and assigned to the evidence, that a day away can affect the timing of the school year. It's easier not to.

Unfortunately, what is lost is a great lesson from the experience in an educational setting for our students. No, really can not evaluate a full day experience. You just to ensure that subjective feel that teachers are not given much credit when a student brings up an experience and makes a connection with a new idea or a student brings an experience only because he had a good time. We do not have test results in this field trip experiences, but we still know as teachers what is important they are.

I taught at a secondary school needs early in my career. One of my young students had never left his suburban family neighborhood Never lived. Rarely had left the space between his house, his grandmother's home and school, about 6 blocks. He was 8 years.

So when our class went to the Science Museum in downtown San Francisco, I spent more time making sure he was okay. He had no fear or concern. Even at the push of the crowd. He had a whole new experience and brought him back to class with him. Then I could rely on the ideas of our journey to create class discussions, and because he had such an impact on him, I knew that helped him be more involved in my classroom. I remain a supporter of the experiences learning outside the classroom for today.

Now I would like to discuss some very old technology and new technology that can legitimize the trip field.

Old technology: books with many pictures, posters, national magazines or specific geographical science objectives Lesson available during the day of travel, encyclopedias, educational videos and DVDs specifically for travel purposes.

When planning lessons based on their curriculum and the information that the field visit is required, you can pre-design activities introducing new ideas and vocabulary books, educational videos and perhaps a research on the internet. Designed activities may include a treasure hunt list or a list of questions with answers found at different stages of their journey. Subsequent activities may include reviewing pictures or video of the trip, educational videos objectives and vocabulary review from the day (usually a review of all pre-activity) and individual projects further discussed later lesson in the "new technology." Teachers can use these materials to develop an assessment of the objectives of the day's lessons.

New technology: digital images Photo stories and classroom web sites, video recording digital camera of the main events of the field visit, Internet research site to visit before the trip, the digital video camera for students to submit project reports based on travel blogs on the Internet classroom, publish your videos on the site classroom web, software programs and video editing photo editing software.

By recording events through digital cameras digital video cameras and the publication of written accounts of the case, a teacher can address the lesson objectives, the many different learning styles students in Technological Literacy exciting event.

The most important part of the new technology is almost all of our interest 21st century digital native students and their commitment to technology. By creating lessons as a project, you can build a higher level skills thinking as a result of all things rather than just study and take another test.

When students can help put it all together as a class event collaboration, not only create great lessons using the day's events, but the major childhood experiences to his students will always remember.
